Welcome to the blog from Ortho-Bionomy UK and BodyHelp.
Ortho-Bionomy® is a very gentle, holistic, non-invasive way to help release tension and stress in your body and works on a physical, mental and spiritual level. This method originally evolved from osteopathic techniques.
BodyHelp is the marketing name for my workshops and online courses.
You will find much useful information in this blog about Ortho-Bionomy, about the bodies’ physiology and how it functions, about pain and about some of my findings when treating clients and their horses. I will provide some information about specific techniques that colleagues may like to follow and will also provide information about self-care techniques that you can use at home to help yourself alleviate pain and stiffness from within your body.

Dr. Anna Hayes, Ph.D.
I started working with the Ortho-Bionomy in 2007, opening my own practice, ShaYLa, together with a colleague, in Germany, in 2015, where I concentrated fully on helping people to find their place of comfort within their body with the Ortho-Bionomy.
In 2015, following a course with Terri Lee in the U.S., I also started to work with horses and the Ortho-Bionomy. This was followed by a series of courses in Structural Equine Osteopathy. However, I quickly found that the horses who had already experienced the Ortho-Bionomy would not let me work with the structural techniques. With the Ortho-Bionomy I work with the horse, not on the horse. When the horse has trust, lets go and begins to work with me, then wonderful releases of stress, tension and trauma can occur.
In addition to qualifying as an Ortho-Bionomy practitioner in 2014, I have completed further training in treating shock and trauma, scars, amputations, implants and protheses, traditional Chinese medicine and acupuncture points, energy work and energetic psychology.
I studied Applied Physics at the University of Bath, graduating in the year of 1987, before completing my Ph.D. in the area of Biomaterials and Biomechanics. This was followed by three more years in research. In 1995 I moved to Germany and worked in the area of Medical Technology for 5 years, before I dedicated myself to the job of mother. From 2007 until 2011 I also studied to be an Alternative Practitioner (Heilpraktikerin).
In 2017 I moved back to England to work with the Ortho-Bionomy together with people and with horses.
